Went last night with a group of about 14 people. It was our first time trying shabu shabu and the experience was very tasty and fun. The waitstaff was good, although our waiter waffled a bit on his recommendation for what a newbie should order but in the end we both got the meat lovers w/ rib eye beef and chicken, along with the shrimp tempura and "Japanese" chicken wings. The wings were the oddest item in the building, as they were clearly just regular old wing-dings that you can get at any sub shop, served with duck sauce. The tempura was crispy and delicous. The arrival of the bowl of broths and the veggies began the real fun, as we didnt quite know what to do with them, Into the broth they went, to be fished out later and consumed with the extremely long rice noodles that provided some good comedy trying to get them out of the bowl! The beef and chicken platter came (all raw and sliced razor-thin), and after a short lesson on how to cook them, we gobbled up both platters, using the dipping sauces and other condiments.
Overall a very tasty dinner, would definately go back and order something different, maybe seafood.
